This is a great shot. While it may be a dilema, I personally think you nailed this just right, plus opened it up enough to really paint the background well. Believe it or not the pumpkin on the truck issue you are having isn't that the focus is off, it's that the highlights are blown. Drop it in a layer, rope off the pumpkin, take just that down -1/2 a stop and you'll see what I mean. You might even want to go a full stop...
