Another pic from that night.

Another pic I took forever and a day ago. I had dismissed most of these pics as crap, but now that I'm playing with them some more I see a little something in them.

playing with an old pic.

I took this w/ my little cool pics camera back in december, I had been drinking, and felt like taking some pictures. This is what I've turned that pic into. I think it kind or reflects the monkey house, in so many ways.

camera settings make a difference.

For better or for worse, the settings you choose do make a difference. I'm not even sure what I did here, but I think this ended up pretty cool. There is no photoshop work on this pic. I color corrected, and auto contrasted in Picasa2, that's it. Oh, and a slight crop.

Now I just have to figure out how to put my camera back the way it was.

Couple of slow photo days

Hmm... Here are a couple of attempts at trying to make what was a pretty boring photo entertaining. I think it came out alright.

One last photo

Looking at this pic makes me feel like a voyer, even though I was just standing across the street when I took it. I think it's the effect of having the tree so dark in the foreground.

Symentry?

I thought today was a slow picture day, but the ratio of pictures taken to good pictures is probably the best I've had. I don't really know why I like this picture. It's just the entrace to a church, but it just strikes me a pretty.

For Dad

This isn't really a very good pic, but Dad will like the car.

Another life photo

I love this pic. I think it captures the strength of life.

I think I like this version better

photoshoping attempt.

I'm not sure if this helps the pic or not, but I thought it was interesting at least.

Where is your Focus

I spent alot of time today playing with using differant focus points for photos. I can't decide which of these pics I like better. One of them is focused on the liter, and the other on the life. I actually kind of like them side by side as a kind of life perspective thing. What do you want to focus on in your life?

interesting accident

I was walking around durring my lunch break today, just kind of pointing at stuff and shooting. I accidently got this shot. I've done some work to this shot, probably too much, but it's something I really need to look out for more often. The other thought on this subject is, that car is moving. I really had no time to set the shot up, but I could stand in a similar spot, and wait for something that would work to come along.

I also noticed that when certain semi trucks passed along 71 they would reflect light right down onto my smoking bench, distracting me from my book. I wonder if this could be used in a shot somehow.

time for a smoke

This is the shot of my coworker lighting a cig. I think you see what I mean about it not being very good.

1/15s
f4.5
focal length 40.0mm

I'm really starting to like the lighting in this parking lot, it creates really cool shadows, and the more I use it the more I like the backdrops that are availitble.

Shot of the day, kind of a slow photo day.

I love this picture, despite how terrible it is. I only had a few seconds to fire off a few shots of my coworker while we were waiting for our rides.

I flipped through a couple of differant options on the camera, and this is the best I got. I wish I had a steadier hand. There is another shot of him lighting his cigarette that would have been cool as hell if it hadn't been so shaky.

I love the way the light plays off of the cement balls he's leaning against, but I also don't like the bilboard in the background. Of course, The billboard kind of captures a little something of cinci. Which I've decided is a major goal of mine as a photographer. I want someone who views this blog to get a feeling for cinci. and what it's like to live here.

anyway, for my own purposes the camera settings on this shot were:
1/50s
f/4.5
Focal Length 40.0mm

picture with potencial

I love what I was trying to capture with this picture. It's just straight up framed to high. If I had dropped the camera down just a bit, I would have gotten fonzie's tags, and would have cut out the lawn chair in the background. I think I'm going to try cropping it, and see what I get then, but there's no fixing a photo that's had part of it cut off in the camera.

I really should listen to cowboy's advice on pulling back. You can always crop things down a little. That's the key though. A little. The picture I posted yesterday was cropped a little too much.

Must continue the quest for middle ground.

oh, and then there's this. kind of like it.

I kind of like this pic just a little bit sharper. Hm... wish I'd gotten some more stuff.

night shooting w/o a tripod sucks

I was playing after work tonight, and managed to get this. well, I'll post the original in just a min. I think I played with this one a little too much digitally. I thought it was kind of neat though.

especially since I don't have a tripod.
